Early morning questions
Very early this morning (5? 5:30? I didn’t look at the clock), I awoke to cries of “Mom-my!” When I went into Zoe’s room to see what she needed, we had the following exchange:
M: “Yes, Zoe?”
Z: “Mommy? Am I turning four-and-one-quarter tomorrow?”
M: “Yes, Zoe.”
Z: “Okay. And Mommy? Can we have pizza for dinner tomorrow night since I didn’t have pizza at school yesterday?” (Mondays are “Pizza Mondays” at Zoe’s school.)
M: “Yes, Zoe. But it’s very early. Can you try to go back to sleep?”
Z: “Okay.”
After I returned to bed, Zoe, obviously unable to get back to sleep, called out for me or Q every 15 minutes or so. (She needed water, then she had to go to the bathroom, then she needed help with her sheets, which had fallen on the floor.) Needless to say, I wasn’t able to get back to sleep either.
Such is life with small children!
