Something my kid ruined
There’s a highly entertaining website (and now a book, too) called Sh*t My Kids Ruined. Luckly, our kids have caused minimal damage to our possessions over the years – but we did have a casualty this weekend, when Avery reached for, and broke my, hand-painted, glass butter dish. It’s just a butter dish, I know, but I was displeased: It’s not easily replaceable (I bought it at an art fair), and the hand-painted polka dots made me very happy! Still, Q (ever the optimistic) said this gives me another excuse to shop. And when I look at that website and see the damage done by other kids, I know we’ve gotten off easy.

I remember breaking my mother’s cut crystal candy dish and how angry and upset she was with me. We all did those “accidents” in our childhood. Ask your Mom what was your “accident” and how she felt about it.

A very recent one, all happening within a week of each other, was my cousin breaking her dad’s new big screen t.v. and also killing his (expensive) tropical fishes. lol
The t.v. thing was because the Wii-mote slipped out of her hand, and the fish thing was because she was feeding the fishes and the top of the fish food container came off and the whole thing fell into the tank. My uncle planned to clean the tank when he returned from taking the girls to school, but they died within a couple hours.
She felt terrible for both, but it’s also kind of funny… You know, as a person who did not actually spend any money on those things.

Wow, when you compare the big screen TV and fishes to a butter dish, it is hard to see which one is more painful to absorb.

I feel silly now for complaining!
