“Welcome back”
Zoe had an accident in the middle of the night (a rare occurrence, thankfully) and since Q was out of town and I was too tired to change her sheets, I invited her to sleep with me. I wound up feeding Avery right afterwards, and when I tiptoed back into my room 20 minutes later I assumed Zoe was asleep. But when I crawled into bed, I heard a small voice say, “Welcome back,” followed by an “I love you.”
Getting up in the middle of the night to tend to the kids is no fun, really, but moments like this make everything seem better.

This is such a sweet story. I only have one question. Why were you feeding Avery in the middle of the night? I thought she was already sleeping through the night.

Well, when I said “middle of the night,” I actually meant 4 AM. Avery heard us and woke up – so I thought it would be easier to feed her (versus wait for her to wake up an hour later).
