“S-T-A-R-S – we’re stars!”

Zoe’s camp is officially half over: It’s been four weeks (though she’s only been there for three), and she’s loving it. She had a bit of an adjustment in the beginning: Camp Galileo is held at her school but not run by it, and Zoe seemed thrown off by the fact that camp was so different than school. She also said several times that she missed her kindergarten teacher, Mr. Ferris. But her camp counselor said Zoe was like a different (happier) person by the second week; he calls her a cheerleader for how energetic she is and how much she cheers on her campmates during games. And Zoe is always coming home with new games and activities she learned at camp.

There’s a presentation for parents every Friday afternoon, and while visiting today I got to see Zoe’s space-themed shadow puppet and watch her and her fellow “Stars” – i.e. the 1st and 2nd graders – do their cheer. (Not that I hadn’t heard it before: Zoe and Avery, who hears it at her camp over the fence, do it at home a lot.)
